LMFF: Famous for Fashion - Chapel Street Edition

During L'oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival my two friends and I attened the Famous for Fashion Chapel Street Edition runway! It was such a fantastic night and there was plenty todo pre-show (hence the many photobooth prints!) I adored the inimitable layout of the runway! The designers that showed were: Alice McCall, Autonomy, cylk, FAT, Gorman, Jack London, ML Denim, SHAG, Shakuhachi & Stevie.

Tarrawarra Museum of Art

Last Sunday I went to the beautiful TarraWarra Museum of Art. It was such a lovely place and the perfect weather added to a fantastic day! I loved the surroundings and the incredible architecture of the building. There are currently two exhibitions on at the museum, the main one being Master of Stillness: Jeffrey Smart paintings 1940-2011 and the other Nadine Christensen & Anne Wallace: Recent paintings. Both of these exhibitions were marvellous! Such a brilliant day!

(P.S. sorry for the overload of fashion week reviews, I wasn't planning on posting on any but once Paris came around I fell in love with the collections I reviewed, so I thought it was necessary to post about them!)

Phoebe Philo is the queen of minimalism. This collection seemed to be about amazing coats, smoothly moulded skirts, rounded shapes and a neutral colour palette. The entire collection looked very clean and cosy.

This collection had very impressive tailoring and incredible statement graphics making it the best MMM show I have seen in a while.

Balenciaga Fall 2013

Plenty have questioned if Alexander Wang was up to the challenge of Balenciaga's creative director... Wang has clearly studied the brand's archives, The show felt true to Cristóbal's lines. Cocoon coats, jackets with rounded volumes, petal skirts, molded peplums, bracelet sleeves. I was very impressed with Alexander Wang's work but I think he played things algong the safe side.

Dries Van Noten Fall 2013

Dries Van Norten's show was incredible, he defiantly understands how to design for the correct client! The graphics were applied beautifully to fabric. The designs were clean with perfect sihouettes. The use of feathers were lovely and never looked over the top.
